Simulation for 5G New Radio System Design and Verification

The first 5G standard non-standalone deployment configuration offers advantages on throughput and latency that can be achieved with the existing 4G network. At the same time it also brings some design challenges with respect to the more complex hardware implementation to allow simultaneous connections with LTE and NR.

This white paper covers some of these challenges and explains how Keysight is actively working on resolving them with 5G developers. This includes the co-existence issues with LTE-NR Dual Connectivity and the implementation of susceptible mmWave components into the mobile devices. They make it increasingly difficult for design and verification engineers to develop their commercial 5G devices and it requires new tools for both the component level implementation and system level performance verification.
