Freescale Bolsters RF mobile radio position with 4W Airfast Device

AFT05MS004NFreescale has added the AFT05MS004N 4W RF power device to its flagship Airfast RF power solutions for handheld and mobile radio applications. The device delivers outstanding low power operation and extends the company’s support of mobile radio power levels to the 4W - 75W range.

The AFT05MS004N has a high gain to reduce the number of stages, energy efficiency improvements that reduce heat sink form factors, and exceptional ruggedness at a > 65:1 VSWR survivability rating for continuous reliable operation in extreme environments. It operates from 136 to 941 MHz and can operate as low as 2 MHz. The device is available in a cost-effective SOT-89 plastic package and is part of Freescale’s product longevity program.

The AFT05MS004N is ideal for a wide range of applications including public safety radios, professional mobile radios, electric metering, M2M communications and industrial drivers.

Airfast AFT05MS004N Features

  • Small form factor - highly versatile device that meets the needs of multiple applications
  • Industry’s best ruggedness - survives > 65:1 VSWR with simultaneous over voltage and 3 dB overdrive
  • High gain at > 4W output power - eliminates stages, thereby reducing system cost
  • High efficiency - simplifies cooling and enables smaller end products, allows use of smaller heat sinks and housings
  • Broad bandwidth capability - enables full performance across each mobile radio band

The AFT05MS004N is supported by a comprehensive set of broadband designs and fixtures available for reference, as well as global and regional applications support from Freescale.
