Copper Mountain Technologies Develops Hands-On Learning Solution for Engineering Students

Copper Mountain Technologies (CMT), a developer of innovative RF test and measurement solutions has developed a hands-on University Kit for Students. CMT’s University Kit is a complete solution designed to assist educational institutions in providing RF skills to engineering students.

The kit has three options of vector network analyzer models and includes the calibration module, sample devices under test (DUTs), and accessories necessary for an array of common VNA measurements. CMT’s University Kit is an affordable way to outfit the lab with RF measurement equipment, providing a practical approach to vector network analysis and supporting remote learning.

Vector Network Analyzer options for the University Kit include the CMT304U 2-port 3.2 GHz Analyzer, CMT804U 2-port 8 GHz Analyzer, and the CMT808U 4-port 8 GHz Analyzer. The University Kit will enable users to learn all major S-parameter measurements such as impedance, VSWR, return loss, and insertion loss using the included filter and antenna.

The University Kit combines RF theory with a robust hands-on VNA experience. The solution allows for students to prepare for measurements and process results remotely. While the kit includes some teaching labs out of the box, CMT’s applications engineers can assist with creating additional labs designed to walk students through common VNA measurements. The University Kit is backed by comprehensive support from Copper Mountain Technologies’ expert engineers.

The University Kit Includes the following:
  • CMT VNA's: CMT304U 2-port 3.2 GHz Analyzer, CMT804U 2-port 8 GHz Analyzer, and the CMT808U 4-port 8 GHz Analyzer
  • Band Pass Filer or Diplexer from Reactel: Based on the VNA selected, an appropriate bandpass filter or diplexer is provided.
  • SMA 2.1 Mechanical Calibration Kit: A calibration kit that operates from DC to 8 GHz if provided. Click here for more information on the Cal Kit.
  • Wi-Fi Antenna: A dual band Wi-Fi antenna that operates from 2400 - 2500 MHz & 5150 - 6000 MHz.
  • Cables and Adapters: Test Cables that operate from DC to 18 GHz and SMA to SMA adapters are part of the kit. Click here for more information on the cable.
  • Torque Wrenche: Torque Wrenches are provided to tighten or loosen the SMA connectors. Click here for more information on the Torque Wrench.
