Microwave Techniques LLC (MT), the parent company of both Maine-based Mega Industries (MEGA) and New Hampshire-based Ferrite Microwave Technologies (FMT) announced that it has acquired all of the assets and IP of Raleigh, North Carolina based Industrial Microwave Systems, LLC. (IMS) from Laitram, LLC. These two long-time leading microwave systems brands are recognized worldwide for innovative and robust designs and reliability.
The merging of the brands, IP, and products related to IMS’s Single-Mode Continuous Fluid and Solid Processing Systems and Ferrite’s Multi-Mode Batch and Continuous Tempering and Drying Systems into the Microwave Techniques portfolio offers customers a one-stop source for lab and commercial scale microwave systems covering Tempering, Drying, Heating, Cooking, Bonding, Curing, Reacting, Cracking, Sterilizing belt/Continuous, Batch and Fluid/Slurry Heating. They also offer Lab Systems, Single-Mode and Multi-ModeTransmitters/Generators, Combiners and Circulators and Magnetron Tubes 6 kW to 1.2 MW. The companies will provide global support and Custom Development & Modeling.
Microwave Techniques LLC was established after the 2020 merging of MEGA and FMT and now adds IMS’s fluid heating and continuous belt-based systems to its portfolio. With three manufacturing facilities in Maine and New Hampshire, Microwave Techniques is unique in the microwave industry by combing the design and manufacturing of the most advanced high power microwave components with end-to-end industrial microwave system development. The high-power microwave components design and manufacturing division is based in Gorham, Maine and the industrial microwave systems group is based in Nashua, New Hampshire. The systems group is moving into a new larger facility this fall to support IMS production and its continued growth.

The combined company will continue to use the various brand names (MT, MEGA, FMT, IMS, MCi, and FXR) and employ over 100 people with over 100,000+ square feet of production capacity across the multiple facilities in Maine, New Hampshire, and North Carolina.
