TAIYO YUDEN has introduced two new wireless communication modules, EYSNCNZWW and EYSNSNZWW. Both modules are compatible with Core Specification Version 5.2, which is the latest version of Bluetooth 5. These products support a direction-finding function that enables users to grasp location information, and are most suitable for IoT-related devices that are required to be small and thin, such as wearable devices, healthcare equipment, and handheld devices for logistics. Mass production of the products commenced in May 2020, with a sample price of 3,000 yen per module.
Technology Background
IoT-related devices, such as wearable devices, are very small and therefore use a small-capacity battery which necessitates that the device have extremely low power consumption. Most such devices use Bluetooth technology, which is a wireless communications standard with low power consumption. The latest Bluetooth Core Specification version 5.2 not only provides improved transmission speed and expanded communication range, but also supports new features such as a sophisticated direction-finding function, while retaining the low power consumption of previous versions.
TAIYO YUDEN’s wireless communications modules, EYSNCNZWW and EYSNSNZWW, support this direction-finding function. These products allow the devices to indicate the location information of people and things in indoor facilities such as warehouses and offices, which was previously not possible. In terms of applications, the wireless communications modules can be used for IoT-related devices that are required to be small and thin, such as wearable devices, healthcare equipment, and handheld devices for logistics.
