Mini Circuits Introduces Voltage Variable Attenuator from 10 to 45 GHz

The new PVA-453-34+ from Mini-Circuits’ is an MMIC voltage variable attenuator that gives designers the ability to control signal levels using DC voltage for a wide range of applications from 10 to 45 GHz. This attenuator has been developed for 5G MIMO and backhaul systems, Satcom, Radar, SIGINT tuners, EW and ECM defense systems. It is a useful building block for temperature compensation, automatic gain control (AGC), feedback loops and similar circuits.

Fabricated using an HBT process on GaAs, this VVA is available in a 2.5 x 3.5mm QFN package or bare die format. It has a high dynamic range, low distortion, and a low insertion loss. It features two independently controlled attenuators using analog control voltages from -4V to 0V. The VVA exhibits low distortion, enabling improved system performance and low insertion loss and high dynamic range. This simplifies the use of analog signal control.

Key Product Specs:

  • Wide attenuation range, 45 dB @20 GHz, 51 dB @30 GHz, 38 dB @40 GHz
  • -4 to 0V control voltage
  • Good return loss for all attenuation states (13-19 dB)
  • High IIP3, +26 to +43 over attenuation range
  • High IIP3, +26 to +43 dBm typ. over attenuation range
