Knowles has announced a new Capacitor facility in Suzhou, China which is now fully operational. This completes the relocation of Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) manufacturing from plants in the UK and Mexico. Located in the Xiangcheng Economic Development Area in Suzhou, the factory has 10Km2 of floor space. This reflects a significant investment in expanded capacity and provides space to grow the business. The facility makes a broad range of MLCC products including standard, high voltage, high Q and application specific capacitors, as well as surface mount and feedthrough EMI filters.
The Capacitor division of Knowles is the consolidation of Dielectric Laboratories (DLI), Novacap, Syfer Technology and Voltronics into a single organization with a combined history exceeding 175 years. Whilst the production facility is fully ‘up and running’ the original R & D operations in Norwich and North America continues to make great strides in the development of single and multilayer capacitors. Notable achievements over the last decade being a revolutionary product ‘FlexiCap’, used in safety-critical environments, winning the UK Queens Award for Enterprise and more recently ProtectiCap and StackiCap product lines.
