Ampleon has introduced its newest 2500 W peak RF power transistors that are powered by a 75 V DC power supply. This marks a notable leap forward in the Advanced Rugged Transistors (ART) technology, setting a new standard for robustness and performance.
With the introduction of the ART2K5TFUS and ART2K5TPU models, Ampleon extends its support for next-generation high-power industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) designs. These additions complement an already leading ART portfolio, offering a full series of high breakdown voltage and exceptionally rugged Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) options, ranging from 1600 W to 2500 W.
The ART2K5Tx transistors are designed in push-pull air cavity ceramic (ACC) and over-molded plastic (OMP) packages, ensuring 2500 W Class AB performance across the frequency range from 1 MHz to 400 MHz. The ACC package guarantees the highest reliability and improved power cycling ruggedness, while the OMP packages offer a cost-effective solution.
Central to these devices is their unmatched ruggedness, exemplified by an impressive 65:1 Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) capability. This feature is pivotal in withstanding the rigorous dynamic loads present in diverse applications, including plasma generators, CO2 laser drivers, particle accelerators, UHF radars, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners, and FM/VHF transmitters. With an almost infinite operational lifespan and negligible degradation of electrical parameters over time, ART transistors guarantee unparalleled reliability in even the most challenging environments. Moreover, these transistors offer integrated temperature sensors, operate at a high 75 V to reduce DC current demand, and achieve exceptional drain efficiency levels ranging from 80 % to over 90 %, depending on the class of operation.
