Indra, a global leader in defense technology, has successfully deployed its cutting-edge Lanza 3D radar at the Air Surveillance Squadron 2 (EVA-2) in Toledo, Spain. This new radar system, the first of five that will be delivered, is part of a strategic initiative to modernize Spain's air defense infrastructure, bolstering surveillance capabilities across the central region of the country.
The Lanza 3D radar represents the latest advancement in air defense, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to detect a wide range of aerial threats, including aircraft, drones, and missiles. By using the most advanced radar technology, these systems are capable of identifying even stealth targets with reduced radar signatures, thanks to new materials and technologies designed to evade detection.
This deployment is part of Spain's broader efforts to replace aging radar systems with next-generation equipment, ensuring the country's airspace remains secure and resilient against evolving threats. Once all five radars are operational, including four fixed Lanza 3D Long-Range Radars (LRR) and one deployable Lanza 3D Tactical Radar (LTR-25), Spain will have complete national coverage based entirely on Indra’s advanced radar systems, reinforcing the country's technological sovereignty.
A Key Element of NATO's Defense System
In addition to protecting Spanish airspace, these radars are integral to NATO's Integrated Air and Missile Defense System (NATINAMDS), a critical component of Europe's defense strategy. This integration strengthens the continent's collective security by providing early warning and detection capabilities for allied forces.
