Hughes Network Systems, an EchoStar company, achieved a milestone in in-flight connectivity technology with the successful test flight of the Gogo Galileo HDX Electronically Steerable Antenna (ESA). Developed by Hughes, the ESA, designed for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity, completed testing on a Bombardier Challenger 300 aircraft and is set for commercial release by mid-2025. This technological advancement is poised to redefine connectivity for the business jet market.
With its compact design and robust connectivity management system, the ESA promises a seamless, gate-to-gate connectivity experience for passengers. "Business jet owners can unlock the full potential of LEO connectivity with the Hughes ESA to deliver a seamless, gate-to-gate connectivity experience," remarked Reza Rasoulian, Senior Vice President of Hughes Aviation. "We're thrilled to see Gogo Business Aviation validate our industry-leading technology."
The Hughes ESA is distinguished by its sleek, low-profile structure, making it easy to integrate into aircraft of all sizes, from small private jets to commercial airliners. Manufactured at Hughes' advanced facility in Germantown, Maryland, the ESA provides consistent connectivity and an always-connected experience that promises to enhance passenger satisfaction.
With over two decades of expertise in aviation connectivity, Hughes continues to lead in developing in-flight solutions, aiming to deliver the best passenger experience through state-of-the-art technology. This successful flight test adds to Hughes’ proven track record in aviation, offering reliable, high-speed connectivity and entertainment solutions for aircraft worldwide.
