Modelithics has announced the availability of new Microwave Global Models for Passive Plus 0505C and 1111C surface mount chip capacitor families. Modelithics and Passive Plus recently collaborated through the Modelithics Vendor Partner (MVP) Program to extend the 0505C model through 1000pF (originally 0.1pF through150pF), and the 1111C model through 10,000pF (originally 0.1pF through 150pF). The models have also been upgraded to include orientation selectability, which defines the mounting orientation of the capacitor (horizontal or vertical) on the PCB fixture.
The 0505C and 1111C Microwave Global Models are both validated to 12 GHz and offer land pattern (pad) scaling, substrate scaling and part value scaling in addition to the orientation selectability feature. These scaling features, unique to Modelithics models, give designers the capability to specify the particular design environment they are using and achieve accurate parasitic simulation according to the model settings. In addition, tuning and optimization tools within simulators can be used along with these scalable model parameters to quickly determine optimal component values, pad dimensions and other design details. The advanced features also help with troubleshooting during the design phase to reduce on-the-bench tuning and increase the ability to achieve first pass design success.
Passive Plus is sponsoring free 90-day trials of all Modelithics models for Passive Plus components, including the new 0505C and 1111C capacitor models. Model versions are available for Keysight ADS, NI AWR Design Environment, Keysight Genesys, ANSYS HFSS, and Sonnet Suites.
