Southwest Antennas has released their first product line of filtered omni-directional antennas, giving users additional operational flexibility in radio placement while helping to attenuate disruptive frequencies outside of their operational frequency band. This is particularly important for users who will be operating in close proximity to high-powered transmitters, such as military radio systems.
Southwest Antennas parts #1001-127 and #1001-132 cover a frequency range of 2.1 to 2.5 GHz with 2.15 dBi of peak gain, with choice of a Reverse Polarity TNC(m) RF connector (# 1001-127) or standard TNC(m) RF connector (# 1001-132).
A 3-pole RF bandpass filter is securely fitted inside of the antenna radome and integrated with other components, ensuring survivability during harsh field use. The coaxial gooseneck base allows for flexible antenna mounting options for dismounted user applications, including securing the antenna through MOLLE gear, web loops, or vests. Additionally, users of multi-antenna 2X2 or 3X3 MIMO/MANET radio systems can easily positon the antennas at 45-degree angles for increased spatial and polarization diversity.
We are seeing more applications where radio communication equipment is compromised by co-located radio systems. By integrating the filter into the antenna, their customers have an easy plug-and-play solution to help reduce interference without complicating their radio setup. The antenna has to simply be mated to the radio’s RF connector and the integrated filter does all the heavy lifting.
Custom electronics inside of the antenna ensure the filter performs optimally across the antenna’s entire operating frequency range.
