API Technologies Corp. announced a new high gain, circularly polarized antenna array developed for Inmarsat services. This antenna array is designed to be used in a variety of applications including satellite networks, two-way voice and data communications and broadband portable terminals. It is available from the Company’s Spectrum Microwave product line.
“This antenna array meets Inmarsat class II BGAN certification and features high performance in a compact design,” said Tracy Shaffer, Senior Vice President/Business Manager, RF/Microwave & Microelectronics, API Technologies. “Circular polarization, 50 ohm impedance and low VSWR combine to produce an L-band antenna array ideal for military and commercial applications requiring satellite communications.”
It has a minimum gain of 11dBic across the operating band of 1518MHz-1676MHz and an axial ration less than 5 dB across the band and a low VSWR of less than 1.5:1. The antenna features a radome for environmental protection and an SMA connector for easy installation. The small size of 8.5 in x 8.5 in x 0.75 in combined with the use of lightweight materials make it ideal for portable broadband data terminals.
API’s new high gain L-band antenna array is available for order as part number RPA11593135CAAF. Other connector types and cable lengths are available. GPS and WiFi capabilities can also be integrated.
