RadarVision Technology used for Automatic Incident Detection in Longest Underwater Tunnel

Navtech Radar will be using the advanced RadarVision software technology from Cambridge Pixel in a bid to enhance its ClearWay Automatic Incident Detection (AID) traffic monitoring system.

The RadarVision software converts radar data into a video stream that can be displayed by Video Management Systems, allowing a radar to be added into existing solutions quickly and easily. No changes are required to the cameras or display system, a suitable radar may simply be installed and connected to the system through RadarVision.

Navtech's ClearWay AID system is now fully integrated with the RadarVision modules and is set for deployment in Norway on what will be the world's longest underwater tunnel. The project will include the supply of over 100 Navtech high resolution 77 GHz traffic radars to deliver improved situational awareness even when visibility is compromised by smoke and fire.

The RadarVision technology connects to a radar and converts the radar data into a standard video IP data stream that any Video Management System (VMS) can receive and display. This means that any VMS can easily interface to a radar and display the radar picture alongside the camera imagery. This means that any VMS can easily interface to a radar and display and manipulate the radar picture.

The RadarVision interfaces to a wide range of security, maritime and specialist radars. It accepts radar video as either radar signals through an acquisition card, as ASTERIX CAT-240 network data or in proprietary formats. The radar data is then scan converted into a plan image and then output as a H.264 (RTSP packaged) network video stream that feeds directly into the VMS.

The RadarVision technology is available as a software application or as a box level solution and provides a wide range of radar acquisition, processing and display options that incorporate Cambridge Pixel's award-winning radar technology being used in naval, air traffic control, vessel traffic, commercial shipping, security, surveillance and airborne radar applications.
