New 80 GHz Backhaul Radios Provide 10 & 20 Gbps Full Duplex Capacity

LightPointe, a manufacturer of millimeter wave point-to-point radios and laser bridges, has added new 10 Gbps and 20 Gbps solutions to its 80 GHz backhaul radio AireLink Series. The AireLink 80 10Gig system requires only one radio on each side of the link to achieve 10 Gbps full duplex data throughput while the AireLink 80 20Gig utilizes advanced Orthomode Transducer (OMT) polarization technology to achieve an astonishing 20 Gbps full duplex capacity, for a total aggregated link capacity of 40 Gbps.

The new AireLink solutions are available with a choice of three high gain field-changeable antennas, 1 foot, 2 foot, and 3 foot, making them the longest distance, highest bandwidth radio solutions in the millimeter wave industry. They are ideal for a broad range of network topologies including Point-to-Point, Metro Ring/Metropolitan Area Network, Mesh, and Multi-Point Star Architectures. The benefits of having the industry’s highest transmission power of up to 25 dBm - combined with the highest gain millimeter-wave antennas available - positions these systems at the pinnacle of distance and bandwidth performance.

The AireLink 80 10Gig and 20Gig provide unsurpassed capacity and reliability. Using modulations up to QAM-256, the solutions require less spectrum for 10 and 20 Gigabit operations, providing unrivaled spectral efficiency.

The Series is ideal for businesses, telecom carriers, and ISPs desiring ‘future proof’ wireless fiber solutions as their networks grow and handle increasingly higher data and video demands. Such point-to-point radios are deployed by businesses, 4G, and 5G telecom carriers, and other organizations to transmit massive streams of data between buildings or towers, thus avoiding the installation and recurring costs of trenching for fiber.

Highlights of the AireLink 80 Solutions:

  • Full duplex 20 Gbps, for a total aggregated link capacity of up to 40 Gbps.
  • AireLink 80 10Gig model requires only one radio on each side of the link.
  • Multiple non-interfering frequency channels.
  • Choice of antennas (1ft/30cm, 2ft/60cm, 3ft/90cm).
  • Hitless adaptive coding/modulation ensure full availability.
