National Instruments Showcases New Products and Test Systems at NIDAYS India 2017

everythingRF attended NIDAYS India 2017 towards the end of October in Bangalore. NIDays is the ultimate learning environment for anyone to gain tools and knowledge to increase their proficiency and develop applications faster, smarter, and more cost efficiently. The event has been designed exclusively for engineers, scientists, and researchers interested in exploring the latest software tools, hardware platforms, and commercial technologies impacting system development.

Products featured at NIDAYS India 2017:

The Next Generation of LabVIEW - 'LabVIEW NXG 1.0'

LabVIEW NXG 1.0 bridges the gap between configuration-based software and custom programming languages with an innovative new approach to measurement automation that empowers domain experts to focus on what matters most – the problem, not the tool.

The 1.0 release of LabVIEW NXG helps engineers performing benchtop measurements drastically increase their productivity with new nonprogramming workflows to acquire and iteratively analyze measurement data. These nonprogramming workflows simplify automation by building the necessary code behind the scenes. For instance, engineers can drag and drop a section of code equivalent to 50 lines of text-based code. This is just one of the many ways LabVIEW NXG helps engineers focus on innovation rather than implementation.

LabVIEW NXG introduces a re-engineered editor with functionality that experienced LabVIEW users often request, but it still offers a user experience similar to complementary software in the market. The refreshed editor further extends the openness of LabVIEW to integrate with a broader set of languages. The modernized editor improves programming productivity by streamlining the editor micro-interactions, user interface objects based on vector graphics and zooming capabilities. New Vehicle Radar Test System that Improves Safety and Reliability Test for ADAS and Autonomous Vehicles

The Vehicle Radar Test System (VRTS) can be used to test 76 - 81 GHz radar technology from the R&D lab through high-volume production test and from individual radar sensors to integrated advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The VRTS combines NI’s mmWave front end technology, a PXI Vector Signal Transceiver (VST) and application-specific software. Unlike traditional automotive radar simulators that are only capable of obstacle generation for functional behavior test, the VRTS integrates a 76 - 81 GHz vector signal generator/analyzer designed for dynamic obstacle generation and comprehensive RF characteristic measurements. Using a more comprehensive approach to radar test that includes both traditional and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test techniques, engineers can deliver more robust autonomous driving technology to comply with evolving regulatory requirements.

The VRTS scales from a base configuration that can emulate two obstacles to sophisticated configurations that can emulate four independent obstacles per PXI chassis. Key VRTS attributes include the ability to simulate Doppler effect velocity of up to 250 km/hr, minimum obstacle range of 4 m, object distance resolution down to 10 cm, support for multiple angles of arrival and variable radar cross sections. The VRTS includes both object simulation capabilities and the radar measurement suite. To learn more about the VRTS, click here.

ATE Core Configurations

ATE Core Configurations deliver core mechanical, power and safety infrastructure to help users accelerate the design and build of automated test systems in industries ranging from semiconductor and consumer electronics to aerospace and automotive. They simplify the design, procurement, assembly, and deployment of smarter test systems at a lower cost and shorter time to market by empowering test organizations with a platform for standardization. These 19-in., rack-based configurations are available in various rack-unit heights, and offer scalable power profiles to match the needs of nearly any application and geography. Test organizations can benefit from highly integrated safety features such as thermal shutoff, emergency power off (EPO), optional uninterruptible power supplies and IEC 61010 certification.

Key benefits include:

  • Highly customizable - Choose what is included in the system, and where within the rack, including PXI instrumentation, signal conditioning, kW power supplies, cooling and more
  • Streamlined procurement - Simplify bill of materials management with consolidated part numbers and fewer vendor transactions
  • Readily deployable - Benefit from IEC 61010 certified systems which are backed by more than 1,500 NI sales, system and support engineers worldwide
  • Expansive ecosystem - Work directly with NI Alliance Partners to specify a turn-key system, including mass interconnect and fixturing, test software development, system maintenance, lifecycle support and more

The global version of the NIDays conference is held once a year in Austin, Texas in the US and is called NI Week. NIWeek 2018 is set to be held from May 21 - 24, 2018 in Austin, Texas and will bring together thousands of engineers, scientists, and industry professionals to learn about the latest NI software-centric platform for accelerating development and increasing productivity in test, measurement, and control systems.
