Qorvo and D-Link have teamed to create new Wi-Fi solutions that improve performance and extend Wi-Fi coverage throughout the home via mesh networks. D-Link recently introduced new Covr dual-band and tri-band Wi-Fi systems that feature Qorvo’s high-power, high-efficiency 5 GHz power amplifiers. The Covr solution was recognized with a CES 2018 Innovation Award in the Smart Home category.
Mesh Networks, also known as distributed Wi-Fi networks, use multiple routers to spread Wi-Fi signals throughout the home. This approach offers significant benefits, including better range to eliminate dead spots, higher capacity to support multiple simultaneous users, high data rates that alleviate buffering, and the ability to withstand or avoid interference. The wireless mesh network market is expected to more than double between 2016 and 2022, from $3.57 billion to $7.44 billion.
Qorvo’s RFPA5542 5GHz power amplifier (PA) supports 802.11ac Wave2 Multiple-User Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) designs, maximizing the output power of in-home Wi-Fi signals even as it optimizes efficiency and lowers power consumption. The Qorvo PA also enables full use of the frequency band.
Qorvo’s Wireless Connectivity business is one of the leading developers of wireless semiconductor system solutions for connected devices, with a broad range of advanced RF chips and software for smart home data communications and the IoT.
