The PCS.50.A from Taoglas is a Cellular and GNSS Antenna that operates from 698 to 960 MHz, 1559 to 1610 MHz and 1710 to 2690 MHz. It is designed specifically for IoT devices with small ground planes and combines aperture tuning and active switching technologies. This linearly polarized antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern and provides a peak gain of -7.79 dB with an efficiency of up to 67%. It utilizes an RF switch to adjust the resonance frequency of the antenna depending on the device’s requirements. The aperture tuning technology allows the antenna to cover the whole spectrum of 4G LTE bands by adjusting the resonant frequency of the antenna to the desired frequency band of operation which enables it to use the correct frequency band required by the radio module. A second active switch can be added for the selection of cellular or GNSS operation.
The PCS.50.A is compatible with the radio modules that support the RF front-end control interface (RFFE). This antenna is available in an FR4 SMD package that measures 38.0 x 10.0 x 1.6 mm and is ideal for IoT and CAT-M devices such as smart sensors requiring cellular and GNSS connectivity, wearables or asset tracking.
