The MMW9014K from NXP Semiconductor is a Dual-Polarized Analog Beamforming IC that operates from 24.25 to 27.50 GHz. It has 4 channels with each channel consisting of a transmit chain (TX) and a receive chain (RX). Both Tx and Rx chains have a buffer, a phase shifter, and a variable gain amplifier (VGA) with an 8-bit phase and gain resolution. In Tx mode, it provides a gain of 30 dB and has a P1dB of 19 dBm while in Rx mode, it provides a gain of 25 dB. This beamforming IC has on-chip power detectors that allow the measurement of power levels on all antenna ports in TX mode. It can be controlled via a high-speed SPI bus or an LVDS link interface and its digital interface controls all functional registers.
The MMW9014K is available in a small FO-WLPBGA package that measures 6.50 x 6.10 x 0.56 mm and is ideal for use in 5G-NR RAN & CPE, phased array antenna (AESA), TDD systems, dual-polarized antennas, small cells, and wireless infrastructure applications.
