The GDM7243A from GCT Semiconductor is an LTE-Advanced Cat 12/15 Chip that operates from 700-900 MHz (low-band), 1.4-2.1 GHz (mid-band), 1.7-2.6 GHz (high-band), and 3.4-3.8 GHz (U-high band). It complies with the 3GPP Release 12 standard. This single chip supports FDD/TDD LTE Category 12/15 technologies with 2CA 4x4 MIMO and 3CA/4CA 2x2 MIMO. It consists of 2 transmit channels, 4 receive channels (with diversity), dual 1 GHz ARM Cortex A7 processor, FDD-LTE/TDD-LTE PHY and MAC, and peripherals/host interfaces. This chip delivers a data rate of 600 Mbps (downlink) using the 2CA 4x4 MIMO mode.
The GDM7243A provides support for an external high-power UE (HPUE) power amplifier to further boost the signal quality. This LTE-Advanced Cat 12/15 chip is equipped with a rich set of peripherals and host interfaces such as USIM, UARTs, NAND controller, SPI, I2C, and GPIOs for control. It is available in a flip-chip chip scale package that measures 13.0 x 13.5 x 1.2 mm and is ideal for hot spots, IDU/ODU CPEs, and M2M applications.
