The Calliope 2 GC02S1 Modules from Sequans are designed for M2M and massive IoT applications. They are available in three regional variants covering North America, Japan, and Europe. The modules deliver an uplink data rate of 5 Mbps and a downlink data rate of up to 10 Mbps. They are based on Sequans Calliope 2 platform, which is a 5G-compliant LTE Cat 1 solution compliant with the 3GPP Release 15 massive IoT standard. The modules comprise of all the elements for a complete modem system including an LTE-optimized transceiver and RF front end.
The Calliope 2 GC02S1 modules support VoLTE, SMS, and other 3GPP Cat 1 Release 14/15 features. They have an integrated EAL5+ secure enclave which enables secure key storage, crypto applications, and integrated SIM (iSIM). The modules also support external SIM, eSIM as well as integrated eSIM (ieUICC). They require a DC supply of 3.1 from 5.5 V and incorporate power-saving features like PSM and eDRX to reduce power consumption. The modules also use Sequans’ proprietary Dynamic Power Management technology which adapts sleep and active state power consumption enabling battery-powered Cat 1 IoT devices.
These modules support various interfaces that include UART, USB, USIM, GPIO, etc. They are available in LGA packages that measure 21.0 x 19.5 x 1.9 mm with an antenna interface. These modules are ideal for use in utility meters, industrial sensors, security and alarm systems, payment systems, asset trackers, and other devices for smart homes, smart cities, and wearable applications.
