The Nighthawk from Collins Aerospace is a Multi-Carrier Waveform Radio that operates from 1350 to 1390 MHz (L-band), 1755 to 1850 MHz (L-Band), and 2025 to 2500 MHz (S-band). This scalable and portable solution is developed using Collins Secure CDL ISR (SCISR) radio platform and can be configured as a ground, ground mobile, or airborne terminal. It provides low-cost, lightweight, wide-band data link capability compatible with various antenna and power amplifier options. This radio provides low observability and high resiliency in contested environments required by warfighters. It supports the QPSK modulation scheme and TDMA mesh network multiple access method along with suppressed-feature Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) for carriers.
The Nighthawk requires a DC supply from 10 to 32 V and consumes 14 W of power. It is NSA Type-1 ready and implements Dynamic Tactical Base Station (TBS) managed MANET networking. This radio is available in an enclosure that measures 5.05 x 2.25 x 0.60 inches and complies with MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F standards.
