The MIDS-LVT(1) from Viasat is a Data Link Terminal that supports Link 16 networking for aircraft and shipboard connectivity. It delivers data throughput of 26.8-1102 Kbps (TADIL J Coded), can deliver voice capabilities at 2.4 kbps (LPC-10) & 16 kbps (CVSD), and has air-to-ground & air-to-air TACAN capabilities. This terminal provides all operational modes of the Link 16 waveform and implements all required Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) host interfaces for both US and coalition integration. It extensively uses reprogrammable components and a modular architecture to provide a lower-cost design while also allowing for future growth requirements.
The MIDS-LVT(1) has Block Upgrade 2 (BU2) that implements the advanced Link 16 functions of Enhanced Throughput (ET), Cryptographic Modernization Initiative (CMI), and Frequency Remapping (FR). It meets receive sensitivity specs with a 2-3 dB margin and has a transmit spectral performance of better than -60 dBc (in 1030/1090 MHz bands). This terminal supports DS 101 SKL modern crypto keyfill and is highly secure with anti-jam capabilities. It can be controlled via MIL-STD 1553, X.25, Ethernet, and STANAG 3910 host interfaces. This data link terminal is available in a housing that measures 19.35 x 19.05 x 34.29 cm and is ideal for small tactical terminals for helicopters, UAVs, deployable gateways & weapons, and handheld Link 16 radios for ground tactical air controller applications. It can operate on AC or DC supply.
