The 8TR8217 from Berex is a 2.4 GHz Multi-Function Smart Front-End RFIC that is designed for 802.15.4 Zigbee/Thread, Bluetooth smart, and proprietary ISM wireless protocols. This RFIC consists of a transmit power amplifier (PA), a receive low noise amplifier (LNA), and a single pole double throw (SPDT) transmit/receive switch in a single compact package. It also has built-in filter networks and input/output matching circuitry. The IC requires a DC supply of 2.7 to 4 V and consumes less than 160 mA of current in Tx mode and 12 mA of current in Rx mode.
The Tx chain of this front-end module delivers a saturated output power of 23 dBm with a large signal gain of 24 dB and the Rx chain provides a small signal gain of 19 dB with a noise figure of 1.6 dB. It can be controlled via a single-ended transceiver interface. The 8TR8217 is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3.00 x 3.00 x 0.45 mm and is ideal for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh networks, smart homes, hubs, and gateways, consumer electronics, smart appliances, smart lighting, smart metering, drones, toys, media remote controller, wireless audio/video, and IoT applications.
