The UPA-55 from General Dynamics is an RF Power Amplifier that operates from 115 to 174 MHz (VHF) and 225 to 420 MHz (UHF). It delivers an output power of up to 50 W in AM, FM, FSK, or continuous wave (CW) modulations. This amplifier has spurious emissions of better than -80 dBc, harmonics of -60 dBc, and a noise floor of -140 dBm/Hz. It is designed to operate in extremely challenging LOS environments on land, in the air, and at sea and is able to withstand humidity, fungus, altitude, shock, dropping, and vibration with an average Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF) rate of 10,000 hours. This amplifier requires a DC supply of 28 V and consumes less than 11 A of current.
The UPA-55 includes a fault indicator for short, open, temperature, and VSWR of more than 3:1. It has all controls conveniently located on the front of the device for ease of use and can also be remote-controlled. This amplifier is available in a MIL-STD-810 standard enclosure that measures 165 x 130 x 305 mm and meets the MIL-STD-461 standards for emissions. The UPA-55 is an essential accessory to the URC-200 or URC-200 (V2) LOS Radios for faster installation and longer product life.
