The ADMV1550 from Analog Devices is a GaAs Double Balanced Mixer MMIC with an RF/LO frequency from 15 to 50 GHz and an IF frequency from DC to 20 GHz. It can be used either as an upconverter or a downconverter, and provides an RF-to-IF isolation of 45 dB and an LO-to-RF/LO-to-IF isolation of 35 dB. In upconversion mode, it has an output P1dB of 11 dBm and a conversion loss of 8 dB and in downconversion mode, it has an output P1dB of 10 dBm and a conversion loss of 8 dB. This mixer is fabricated on a Gallium Arsenide (GaAs), monolithic, microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) process and requires no external components or matching circuitry.
The ADMV1550 offers a wide bandwidth at the IF frequency port for flexible frequency planning to avoid spurious products. It provides excellent local oscillator (LO)-to-RF and LO-to-RF suppression due to optimized balun structures. This RoHS-compliant mixer eliminates the need for wire bonding, allowing the use of surface-mount manufacturing techniques. It is available in an 18-terminal land grid array (LGA) package that measures 4 x 4 mm and is ideal for military electronic warfare, electronic countermeasures, microwave and VSAT radios, and test equipment applications.
