The 220 GHz Broadband Solution from FormFactor is a Single-Sweep Probe Station for high-accuracy on-wafer measurements. It provides an excellent combination of dynamic range, output power, and stability for efficient broadband device modeling and characterization of on-wafer devices for next-generation 5G and future 6G technologies. This system is based on Keysight’s N5291A millimeter-wave system, coupled with specially designed sub-THz frequency extenders from Virginia Diodes. This allows users to leverage their existing N5291A systems to support a single sweep of 170 GHz or 220 GHz. With the newly developed T-wave probes, this system allows continuous broadband sweeps up to 220 GHz with low insertion loss.
This 220 GHz broadband probe station includes an auto RF capability with a continuous calibration monitor and re-calibration for the highest measurement certainty. It is equipped with FormFactor’s patented RF TopHat to conduct measurement over a temperature range from -60 to +125°C and provide EMI-shielded, and dark measurement capabilities. The RF TopHat isolates the sensitive extenders from the hot chuck, ensuring the highest measurement stability and maximizing their lifetime. It features modular RF probe arms which can be conveniently swapped with other probe arms for RF, millimeter-wave, Terahertz, and Load-pull applications (positioner bodies can be motorized or manual).
