The BGT60UTR11AIP from Infineon Technologies is a 60 GHz Radar Sensor with a bandwidth of 5.6 GHz. This Antenna-in-Package (AIP) radar sensor with ±60° Field of View (FoV) has an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a sampling rate of 4 Mbps. It is based on Infineon's B11 SiGe BiCMOS technology and has a ramp speed of up to 400 MHz/μs that allows FMCW operations with extremely high resolution.
The high bandwidth and sensitivity of this sensor allow it to conduct precise distance measurements with millimeter accuracy and detection of sub-millimeter movements for extremely sensitive presence and motion detection up to a range of 15 m. It can also conduct precise range measurements, detect 1D gestures as well as measure vital signs such as breathing rate and heart rate.
The BGT60UTR11AIP requires a DC supply of 1.8/3.3 V and consumes less than 220 mA of current. It has an integrated finite state machine (FSM) for low power consumption & real-time operation and supports a Broadcast mode to trigger and configure multiple devices. This radar sensor is available in a PG-VF2BGA-28-1 package that measures 4.05 x 4.05 x 0.90 mm and can be controlled via a 50 MHz SPI interface.
This radar sensor is ideal for use in smart building devices (such as door locks, smart doorbells, and air conditioners), smart home devices (such as smart speakers and thermostats), and smart appliances (such as refrigerators and kitchen machines). The BGT60UTR11AIP is also suitable for healthcare devices (such as baby monitors and sleep trackers), service robots, security devices (such as motion detectors and IP cameras), and wearables.
