The TEF82xx from NXP Semiconductors is a single-chip, low-power Automotive FMCW Radar Transceiver that operates from 76 to 81 GHz. It enables 360-degree sensing through key safety applications including automated, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and automated parking. This fully integrated RFCMOS chip contains 3 transmitters, 4 receivers, ADC conversion, a phase rotator, and a low-phase-noise VCO. It is optimized for fast chirp modulation and is ideal for short-, medium- and long-range radar applications including cascaded high-resolution imaging radar.
The TEF82xx delivers an output power of 13.5 dBm with a phase noise of -95 dBc/Hz and has a noise figure of 11.5 dB. It complies with ISO26262 and ASIL Level B standards. This transceiver includes built-in safety monitors and external interface capability for MIPI-CSI2 and LVDS. It is available in a 165 pin eWLB package that measures 7.5 x 7.5 mm and consumes 1.5 W of power.
