The FWM7BLZ23-109172 from Fujitsu is a 2.4 GHz Bluetooth 5.3 (low energy single mode) Wireless Radio Module with an integrated antenna. It is based on the nRF52840 SoC (from Nordic Semiconductor), and has 256 KB of RAM and a flash memory of 1 MB. The increased memory and flash memory give designers the option to leverage the Matter royalty-free home automation connectivity standard as well as the Thread IP-based networking protocol. It can support 40 RF channels and implements the GFSK modulation scheme. The module delivers a Tx power of up to 8 dBm and has an Rx sensitivity of -94 dBm. It requires a DC supply from 1.7 to 3.6 V and consumes less than 10.6 mA of current in Tx mode and 11.1 mA of current in Rx mode.
The module’s hardware encoding system enables the 125 Kbps Bluetooth Low Energy Long Range communication mode. This allows users to leverage the full capabilities of the Bluetooth 5.3 long-range mode, which covers roughly four times the area of the Bluetooth 5.0 long-range mode. It includes NFC, UART, GPIO, I2S, PDM, QSPI, TWI, and ADC interfaces which facilitate the design of many embedded applications with a single module. The FWM7BLZ23-109172 is available in a surface-mount package that measures 15.7 x 9.8 x 1.7 mm and is suitable for use in electric appliances and electronic products that require personal area communication functionality.
