The SX1268 from Semtech is a Sub-GHz LoRa Radio Transceiver that operates from 150 to 960 MHz. It has been designed to comply with the physical layer requirements of the LoRaWAN specification released by the LoRa alliance. This radio is suitable for systems targeting compliance with radio regulations such as ETSI EN 300 220, FCC CFR 47 Part 15, China regulatory requirements, and the Japanese ARIB T-108. It offers a continuous frequency coverage that allows the support of all major sub-GHz ISM bands around the world. This transceiver consists of an analog front-end module, LoRa modem, FSK modem, DC-DC converter, data buffer, protocol engine, LDO regulator, matching networks with a low-pass filter, and SPI interface. It is highly configurable to meet different application requirements utilizing the LoRaWAN standard or proprietary protocols. The SX1268 requires a DC supply of 1.8-2.7 V, and consumes less than 20 mA in the Tx mode, and 4.2 mA in the Rx mode.
The SX1268 supports LoRa modulation for LPWAN use cases and GFSK modulation for legacy use cases. It provides a co-channel rejection of 19 dB in LoRa mode and has a built-in synchronizer for clock recovery with automatic channel activity detection (CAD) and ultra-fast ADC. This radio provides an output power of +22 dBm with a high-efficiency power amplifier and has a receiver sensitivity of -148 dBm. It delivers a bit rate of up to 62.5 kbps (LoRa) and 300 kbps (FSK mode). This transceiver is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3.9 x 3.9 mm and is ideal for smart meters, supply chain, logistics, building automation, agricultural sensors, asset tracking, smart cities, streetlights, safety and security sensors, healthcare, and remote-control applications.
