The NORA-W40 Series from u-blox are Wi-Fi 6 Multi-Radio Modules that support Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3, Zigbee, and Thread. They deliver a data rate of up to 11 Mbit/s (Wi-Fi) and 2 Mbps (Bluetooth). These modules are based on Espressif's ESP32-C6 SoC and support Matter application protocol over Thread and Wi-Fi allowing interoperability in the growing ecosystem of various smart home products. They have hardware security features like a secure boot with a hardware root of trust, a trusted execution environment controller, cryptographic hardware accelerators, encrypted flash, and protection of the debug port.
The NORA-W40 Series modules require a DC supply of 3.3 V and can be controlled via UART, SPI, SDIO, TWAI (CAN 2.0 compatible), I2C, I2S, GPIO, LP I2C, LP UART, and ADC interfaces. Their wireless communication can be secured with WPA2/WPA3 authentication, Wi-Fi enterprise security, TLS encryption, HTTPS, and Bluetooth LE secure connection pairing. These modules are available in packages that measure 10.4 x 14.3 x 1.9 mm and have an antenna interface. They are ideal for IoT applications including low-power wireless sensors, industrial automation, smart buildings and homes, smart cities, healthcare and medical devices, telematics, and point-of-sales.
