The NORA-W30 Series from u-blox AG are Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 Modules that operate in 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. They are based on Realtek RTL8720DF chipset and deliver a data rate of up to 150 Mbit/s (Wi-Fi) and 2 Mbit/s (Bluetooth). These modules feature a dual-core MCU with a powerful Arm Cortex-M33 compatible processor with 512 kB RAM for the main application and an Arm Cortex-M23 compatible core with 64 kB RAM and 4 MB flash memory for low power operation. They are available in 2 variants: NORA-W306 and NORA-W301. NORA-W306 has an internal PCB antenna while NORA-W301 has a module pin to connect to an external antenna of choice.
The NORA-W30 Series modules include hardware security features like secure boot, a trusted execution environment with Arm TrustZone, encrypted flash, protection of debug port, and a crypto acceleration engine. These modules have secured wireless communication with WPA2/WPA3 authentication, TLS 1.2/1.3 encryption, Bluetooth LE secure connection pairing, and HTTPS. They require a DC supply of 3.3 V, provide a Tx power of up to 16 dBm, and have an Rx sensitivity of -98 dBm. The modules can be controlled via UART, USB, SDIO, SPI, I2C, I2S, 12-bit ADC, and GPIO interfaces. They are available in packages that measure 10.4 x 14.3 x 1.9 mm and are ideal for use in industrial automation, smart buildings, smart city, medical and health devices, telematics, and point-of-sales applications.
