The OFW-7820-TRX Series from Microwave Photonic Systems are S/C/X-Band Microwave Photonic Transceivers that operate from 2 to 12 GHz. These transceivers are part of an integrated earth terminal design intended to transmit and broadcast S/C/X-Band signal traffic using single mode fiber optic cabling over distances up to 100 km. They can either process direct X-band SATCOM or IF frequency signals that can be up-converted into the X-band spectrum. These photonic transceivers provide a gain of 0 dB (±1 dB), have a noise figure of 22 dB in the RF chain, and have an operational wavelength of 1310/1550 nm (optional ITU grid channel DWDM available upon request). They can operate both AC (90 – 267 V) or DC supply (48 V).
The OFW-7820-TRX Series transceivers utilize field-proven RF optical conversion techniques that are transparent to various earth terminal modulation techniques and their corresponding data rates. They integrate several features to enhance SATCOM terminal operation: uplink/10 MHz RF frequency diplexed transport, downlink LNB powering, RF link gain control, and embedded Ethernet capability. The integrated components support remote control of parameters such as AGC enable/disable/setpoint, manual gain control (MGC) set point, and monitoring of health parameters such as optical power, bias currents, and internal temperature. They also include an optional integrated Ethernet switch which allows for remoting of Ethernet-over-fiber signals from the local to a remote location.
These broadband transceivers are available in rack-mount modules that measure 6.50 x 2.50 x 1.25 inches with TNC, SMA, and 2.92 mm (female) RF connectors and TFOCA, FC/APC, SC/APC, E2000, PC/APC, and AVIM optical connectors. They are ideal for S thru X-band SATCOM IFL links, microwave antenna remoting, electronic counter measures (ECM), test and measurement, wideband delay lines, phased array antenna systems, and secure communication applications.
