The Hercules transceiver is a turn-key solution for ultra-high power high capacity E-band links, combining Filtronic’s Orpheus (Transceiver) and Cerus (HPA) modules. The transceiver operates from 71 to 76 GHz / 81 to 86 GHz and has an integrated E-Band Power Amplifier. It supports up to 2 GHz RF channels and 256 QAM modulation. In the Tx mode, it delivers an output power of up to 32 dB and has a low phase noise of -112 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz. While in Rx mode, it delivers a gain of over 14.5 dB with a noise figure of 7.5 dB.

The transceiver is a turn-key solution that combines Filtronic’s Orpheus and Cerus modules. The Orpheus module contains all the transmit and receive functions necessary for the RF section of an E-band link and provides a simple connection to a high data rate full-duplex modem. While the Cerus module is a power amplifier that significantly increases the available transmit power. It has an integrated diplexer that connects directly to an antenna of choice via a standard WR12 interface. Internal, low phase noise VCOs can be set via an SPI interface in 31.25 MHz steps to support ECC/ITU channel arrangements.

The Hercules transceiver is available in a module that measures 90 x 100 x 85 mm and is ideal for LTE, 5G, and mobile backhaul networks.
