The Mantis II from Cubic is a Ground Data Terminal that operates from 14.4 to 15.35 GHz. It supports long-range, high-data-rate communications with airborne platforms equipped with a multitude of DoD standard Common Data Link (CDL) waveforms. This terminal provides an operating range of up to 250 nmi or more (depending on system configuration) and delivers a full-duplex data rate from 200 Kbps to 44.73 Mbps. It is combined with Cubic’s Video Interface Network Execution (VINE) module to create a powerful Data Link terminal capable of operating in harsh environments to provide valuable real-time data and video. The VINE is integrated with Cubic’s M3-SE networking platform and Unified Video, which powers metadata-rich FMV processing, storage, and dissemination in real-time from anywhere in the world.
The Mantis II and VINE support data transfers from Ku-band CDL-equipped aircraft, including Predator, Reaper, Sky Warrior, Fire Scout, LITENING targeting pod, etc. It has an onboard GPS antenna that aligns the antenna to true north, allowing Mantis II and VINE to perform automatic calibration, making remote set-up easy. This terminal includes various data interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, and fiber optic. It supports NSA Type-1 and commercial AES-256 encryptions. The terminal is available in an enclosure that measures 22.5 x 29.0 x 16.3 inches and complies with the MIL-STD-810G (environmental) and MIL-STD-461F (EMI/EMC) standards.
