The M20-20M from General Dynamics Mission Systems is a SATCOM On-The-Move Terminal. It operates from 10.95 to 14.5 GHz (Ku-band), 20.20 to 31 GHz (Ka-MIL) and 7.25 to 8.4 GHz (X-band). This terminal has been specifically designed for ground vehicle command, control & communications (C3) missions where beyond line of sight (BLOS) SATCOM capabilities are mission critical. It shares a common technology base, components, and user interface with other products in the SOTM family (Models 17, 24, and 30). This SATCOM terminal requires a DC supply of 28 V and consumes 350 W of power.
The M20-20M offers a reliable high data rate satellite communications capability and superior link availability and performance over a wide range of operational conditions. It leverages a wide range of commercially available modem systems and has a modular design that enhances maintainability and minimizes life cycle costs. This terminal integrates all RF components on an elevation payload to achieve high-efficiency RF Tx/Rx. It also consists of power, Ethernet, and L-band Tx/Rx interfaces connected to the modem for remote control and monitoring.
The M20-20M has a G/T of 12.6 dB/K and a beamwidth of 5.3°. It has a tracking performance of up to 0.20° and a satellite acquisition time of less than 5 s (hot-start) and 5 minutes (cold-start). The terminal measures 27.5 (Dia.) x 24.5 (H) inches and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +49°C. It complies with the MIL-STD-810G environmental standard and the MIL-STD-461F EMI standard.
