The R&S SMW200A from Rohde and Schwarz is a dual-path Vector Signal Generator that operates from 100 kHz to 67 GHz. It has a modular design that can be equipped with the exact options required for specific applications. This signal generator can be used in a number of configurations from a classic single-path vector signal generator to a multichannel MIMO receiver tester. It supports all major digital communications standards and can be used as an advanced GNSS and radar simulator. The signal generator has a modulation bandwidth of 2 GHz and integrated fading with up to 800 MHz bandwidth and up to 8x8 MIMO.
The R&S SMW200A supports all important digital standards such as 5G New Radio, LTE (up to Release 15), NB-IoT, eMTC, 3GPP FDD/HSPA/HSPA+, GSM/EDGE/EDGE Evolution, WLAN IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/j/p/ac/ax/ad, DVB-S2/DVB-S2X and LoRa. It supports envelope tracking and AM/AM, AM/PM predistortion options to enable full test and verification of ET modulator chipset. This generator has a built-in graphics function that displays generated signals in real-time. It also offers an SCPI macro recorder with a code generator, which records all manual operating steps to generate a file with a remote command sequence.
The R&S SMW200A enables intuitive operation via the touchscreen with a block diagram and has an adaptive GUI for an overview of both simple and complex scenarios. It is available in an enclosure that measures 435 x 192 x 460 mm and is suitable for use in applications such as wireless communications standards, real-time envelop tracking, GNSS simulation, and radar simulation.
