The R&S SMM100A from Rohde and Schwarz is a Vector Signal Generator that operates from 100 kHz to 44 GHz. It can be used for a wide range of applications including existing wireless standards and 5G NR FR1 in the Sub-6GHz band, Wi-Fi 6E up to 7.125 GHz and 5G NR FR2 bands up to 44 GHz. This signal generator offers a maximum output power of +18 dBm, which reduces the need for external amplifiers. Excellent modulation frequency response, error vector magnitude (EVM), and adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) performance result in signal quality for reliable, repeatable test accuracy. It has an SSB phase noise of less than -129 dBc at a frequency of 1 GHz with a 20 kHz offset.
The internal baseband generator in the R&S SMM100A supports a maximum RF modulation bandwidth of 1 GHz which allows digitally modulated broadband signals to be generated as required by the prevalent wireless standards. The R&S SMM100A is also suited for high rate pulse (HRP) ultra-wide band (UWB) receiver testing. It covers frequency range of up to 10.6 GHz with an RF modulation bandwidth of 500 MHz. The signal generator features an ARB memory depth of up to 2G samples and a high maximum sampling rate of 1.2 G sample/s.
Both real-time signal generation, with an internal baseband generator for the one-box signal generation with the on-the-spot configuration of signal parameters, and an arbitrary waveform generator (ARB) for waveforms defined with the R&S WinIQSIM2 simulation software is available. With the built-in SCPI macro recorder, users can create error-free remote-control programs quickly and easily. MATLAB or Python scripts can also be executed.
