The BCM4390 from Broadcom is a 2.4/5/6 GHz Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4 Combo SoC that has been optimized for mobile handset applications where high performance, low latency, low power consumption, and small solution size are the key requirements. This SoC includes a dual-band 2x2 IEEE 802.11be-compliant radio, a dual-core Bluetooth 5.4 radio, a dedicated scan core, and serial interfaces. It supports simultaneous operation in the 2x2 2.4 GHz and 2x2 5/6 GHz bands over a channel bandwidth of 160 MHz and supports up to 2 streams for Wi-Fi 7. It delivers a data rate of up to 3.2 Gbps with additional SpeedBooster support to enhance the data rate for demanding applications.
The BCM4390 supports technologies such as Bluetooth classic/low-energy, Thread, and Zigbee, along with multi-link operation (MLO) on the client side for Wi-Fi 7. It also supports 4096-QAM modulation across all three bands. This SoC complies with all the requirements of IEEE, WFA Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 standards, and future draft specifications such as channel sounding, enabling improvements in throughput with provision for radio channel monitoring. It is ideal for use in tablets and low-power mobile device applications.
