The CYW20829 from Infineon Technologies is a Bluetooth Low Energy SoC that complies with Bluetooth 5.3 specifications. With the right combination of low power and performance, AIROC™ CYW20829 is designed to support the entire spectrum of Bluetooth Low Energy use cases for home automation, sensors, lighting, Bluetooth® Mesh, remote controls and any other Bluetooth® LE-connected IoT application. With this chipset, designers no longer have to choose between low power and high performance.
This SoC integrates a low power Bluetooth radio, two ARM Cortex M33 cores and a power amplifier that provides a transmit output power of 10 dBm. The SoC has a receive sensitivity of -98.5 dBm for LE & -106 dBm for LE-LR (low energy, long range) at 125 Kbps.
One of the ARM Cortex M33 microprocessors of this module functions solely as the Bluetooth controller and the other has a floating-point unit for high performance applications providing clock speeds of up to 96 MHz. The Bluetooth module is supported by ModusToolbox software which offers tools for rapid development of Bluetooth-enabled IoT solutions. It features architecture-level security with a ROM based root of trust, a TRNG, eFuse for custom keys and cryptography acceleration. This Bluetooth SoC also supports XIP from external flash as well as encryption on the fly for content on the flash.
The CYW20829 includes multiple timer/counter pulse-width modulators, I2S, PDM, CAN and LIN interfaces. It has configurable serial communication blocks that can be turned into UART/I2C/SPI as needed. The SoC is available in a surface-mount package and is suitable for use in home automation, sensors, lighting, Bluetooth Mesh, remote controls and any other Bluetooth LE connected IoT applications.
