The NRC7292 from Newracom is a Wi-Fi HaLow + MCU SoC (System on Chip) that operates from 750 to 950 MHz. It supports a data rate of up to 15 Mbps and is compliant with the IEEE 802.11ah Wi-Fi HaLow standards. This SoC has an ARM Cortex-M3 CPU for customer applications and an ARM Cortex-M0 for WLAN. It has a fully integrated on-chip 11ah modem, RF transceiver, processor, and memory. This SoC’s self-contained IEEE 802.11ah Wi-Fi networking capabilities with a fully integrated radio transceiver make it an ideal solution to add Wi-Fi connectivity to IoT products.
The NRC7292 provides a Tx gain of 30 dB and has an Rx noise figure of 4 dB. The RF transceiver of this SoC is completely radio front-end optimized for the Sub 1GHz band and has fully integrated pre-power amplifiers as well as the capability to support various commercial external FEM devices. With the dual embedded ARM Cortex-M0 and Cortex-M3 processor, this SoC can be used either as a standalone device or a slave to a host processor via a serial peripheral interface (SPI) or universal asynchronous receiver transmitter (UART) interface.
This SoC is available in a surface-mount package and can be controlled via GPIO, SPI, UART, and I2C interfaces. It is ideal for IoT applications, wearables, home automation, healthcare, industrial automation, safety and security, smart grid, and multimedia streaming applications.
