The PC805 from Picocom is a Small Cell Radio Unit (RU) SoC that is designed for 5GNR/LTE O-RU RAN architectures. It supports 3GPP 5GNR releases 15 and 16, meets Open RAN (O-RAN) specifications, and supports Split 7.2x O-RAN Radio Unit (O-RU CAT-A) and Split 8 Remote Radio Heads (RRH or RRU) architectures. This SoC includes a Digital Front End (DFE), Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) & Crest Factor Reduction (CFR), and a simple cascade mode for eCPRI use cases. It supports flexible RF/bandwidth mapping in 8 TX/8 RX RF ports at 100 MHz BW, 4 TX/4 RX RF ports at 200 MHz BW, and 2 TX/2 RX RF ports at 400 MHz BW configurations. The SoC has an integrated RISC-V-based Management processor running a Linux OS and does not require an external processor/controller for configuration or management. It can perform PRACH processing, IQ compression/decompression, debugging & device monitoring and has secure on-chip boot capability.

The PC805 has an on-chip supervisor Linux CPU for M-plane, S-plane processing, & radio control and supports FFT, and iFFT Fourier transforms. It can be controlled via high-speed 4-lane JESD204B radio, 10/25Gbps eCPRI Open Fronthaul including support for 10Gbase-T copper, 10.137/12.165/24.33 Gbit/s CPRI, SPI, GPIO, I2C, UART and 100M Ethernet debug interfaces. This SoC is available in an LFBGA flip-chip ball grid package that measures 17 x 17 mm and is ideal for indoor residential, enterprise & industrial, neutral host & private and outdoor applications.
