The QCM4490 from Qualcomm is a 5G NR + Wi-Fi 6E System on Chip (SoC) with added support for Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. It provides advanced features that are required by industrial handheld, industrial computing, and other IoT devices. This module provides significant reductions in latency and increased responsiveness for latency-sensitive applications (voice, video). It enables smooth handoffs and superior connectivity, even in large, complex environments with multiple, high-demand devices such as hospitals and warehouses. The SoC uses the 6 GHz spectrum to extend advanced Wi-Fi 6 MU-MIMO and OFDMA into the new band and deliver reliable performance, even in congested areas.
The QCM4490 has on-device processing that allows for efficient data analysis between device and cloud (intelligent edge computing) and supports Voice over NR (VoNR) & 5G location (E-CID). It delivers speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps, supported by Qualcomm 4K Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM), 160 MHz channel support, and unique 4-stream (2x2 + 2x2) Dual Band Simultaneous (DBS). This module has an Audio AI accelerator that enhances voice quality and voice UI accuracy and an enhanced camera ISP hardware to support superior image quality. It includes Qualcomm Spectra Image Signal Processor (ISP) that supports a 16+16 MP dual camera at 30 fps and 1080p video capture at 60 fps. This SoC has Gen 9 V5 GNSS that supports Galileo, Beidou, GLONASS, NavIC, and GPS satellite systems.
This SoC is based on 4 nm process node technology with up to 2.4 GHz Qualcomm Kryo Octa-core CPU, Qualcomm Adreno 613 GPU, 2.1 GHz LPDDR4x/3.2 GHz LPDDR5 memory, and a 5G R16 Sub-6 100 MHz modem. It can be controlled via USB 3.1 type-C, eMMC v5.1, SD3.0, UFS3.1, and PCIe interfaces. The SoC has planned support for Android releases through version 18 and industrial designs up to 2030. The QCM4490 is ideal for industrial handheld, retail POS devices, control & automation, industrial computing devices, and industrial & personal security panel applications.
