The GT1500 from GiantSemi is an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) System-on-Chip (SoC) that operates from 4 to 9 GHz. It is compliant with the latest IEEE 802.15.4, IEEE 802.14.4z, and FiRa standards and has been designed to significantly reduce the number of external components and bill of materials (BOM) cost. This SoC is based on the 1T4R architecture that consists of an RF transceiver, a baseband unit, protocol microcontroller (MCU), SRAM, flash, and generic interfaces. It uses various ranging and positioning protocols such as two-way ranging (TWR) based on time-of-flight (ToF), time difference of arrival (TDoA), and 3D angle of arrival (AoA) to triangulate and calculate the location of the device.
This UWB SoC supports CCC protocol along with an embedded AES-128/256 security engine for improved safety. It is ideal for mobile phones, smart homes, wireless speakers, AR/VR gaming, indoor/outdoor high precision positioning, digital-keys and access controls, wearable, and IoT applications.
