Comtech Xicom Technology Introduces New GaN SSPA Product Lines for SATCOM Applications

Comtech Xicom Technology has introduced three new industry-leading GaN SSPA product lines for SATCOM applications. Xicom is using the latest GaN technology in these products with a focus on minimizing size, weight and power consumption, while maximizing performance and reliability. These products are manufactured in their Silicon Valley production facility which offers high volume, MIL and airborne quality manufacturing with rapid deliveries.

Bobcat BUCs – Designed for compact terminals needing high power from very small packages. Bobcats enable users to shrink their footprint while increasing the speed of their link. Bobcat’s are high-performance, DC-powered, feed-mount outdoor BUCs with outsized features including extensive data logging, easy-to-use web-based GUI, ethernet SNMP (v1 or v3), and interchangeability between X, Ku and Ka-bands. Renesas Expands RF Beamforming Portfolio for SATCOM, Radar, and Phased Array Applications

Renesas Electronics Corporation has expanded its portfolio of mm-Wave solutions with the introduction of two new IC families (the F65xx transmit active beamforming ICs and F692x low-noise amplifiers) for Satcom, radar, and phased array applications. Featuring a combination of low power consumption, high gain, and compact size, the new solutions deliver a performance boost for antennas used in Satcom and radar systems.

The F65xx and F692x devices address the thermal and integration challenges designers face as they transition from bulky mechanically scanned antennas to lower weight and profile active electronically scanned array antennas (AESAs). Norsat Launches Products to Mitigate 5G Interference within the C-Band Spectrum

Norsat has launched of two new products to address issues of terrestrial and 5G interference within the C-Band spectrum. As 5G wireless networks continue to grow, there is an increasing need for specialized products to mitigate interference from 5G base stations. These new products help users of C-band satellite services reject 5G interference and to continue to be a part of the coordination efforts to ensure a smooth transition of 5G into the C-band spectrum.

Mission Microwave Introduces SSPAs for TWTA Replacement in Ka-Band Satellite Gateways

Leading developer of highly efficient Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) and Block Upconverters (BUCs), Mission Microwave, will introduce its new Ka-band high power products at the SATELLITE 2020 event. The event is scheduled to take place from 09 – 12 March in Washington, D.C.

Mission Microwave has produced a family of wide-band Ka-band SSPAs to support LEO, MEO or GEO constellations from a single gateway station. Offered in commercial models within the range of up to 27 GHz to 30 GHz, these GaN based SSPAs are designed to be form, fit and function drop in replacements for Travelling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs) commonly used on gateway ground stations. These new products take advantage of the knowledge and experience gained from deployment of Mission’s existing product lines, which already lead the industry in mobile Ku and Ka-Band BUC deployments for commercial and Government SATCOM terminals. ETL Showcases L-band Matrix and Frequency Converters at SATELLITE 2020

At Satellite 2020 this week, designer of satellite communications and RF equipment, ETL Systems has introduced its Hawk Matrix to the MENA (Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) and NAM (US and Canada) regions. The ultra-compact Hawk Matrix is suited for RF signal routing in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) gateways, as well as small High Throughput Satellite (HTS) ground stations and deployable VSAT terminals.

The new dual 8 x 8 matrix is an addition to ETL’s growing range of 36 L-band Matrices which is more than double the range of its nearest competitor. QuadSAT Showcasing its Drone-Based Antenna Testing Technology at SATELLITE 2020

Mobile antenna testing experts, QuadSAT, is exhibiting its latest UAV Antenna Testing technology at the SATELLITE 2020 event. The SATELLITE 2020 exhibition is taking place in Washington DC from 10-12 March, 2020.

QuadSAT’s system uses drone technology to test, calibrate and measure the performance of VSAT antennas. The system offers similar capabilities as a traditional antenna test range by generating and receiving test signals in a highly controlled and consistent manner. ThinKom Unveils NGSO Satellite User Terminal Prototype for Satcom Applications

Leading provider of broadband antennas and satcom solutions, ThinKom Solutions, has unveiled a prototype low-cost, lightweight user terminal for the emerging multi-billion-dollar consumer and enterprise satellite communication market. SatixFy Announces World's First 1 GHz LEO/GEO Modem Chip

SatixFy Space System, a provider of chips and space systems, has announced a new modem chip to be used over LEO, MEO and GEO systems, with appropriate doppler and fade profile performance. The Sx3099 hosts 1 to 8 modems with aggregated throughput of 1 Gsymb/sec in both Tx and Rx directions. A single Sx3099 chip provides a single 1 Gsymb/sec carrier 2 X 500 Msymb/sec "make before break" handover in LEO aero connectivity, 8 X 125 Msymb/sec or any combination of channels aggregated to 1 Gsymb/sec.

This is the first chip to fully support the entire DVB-S2X standard including all Beam Hopping modes as defined in the 2019 revision annex E. On top of previously defined formats, the chip includes all the new Super-frame format types 5, 6 and 7 ("point and shoot" Beam Hopping). New Reflector Antenna Tailored for Smallsat Missions

L3Harris Technologies has introduced a new small satellite reflector antenna that will help decrease the size, weight and overall time to produce smallsats. Lighter and more compact than legacy designs, the new Smallsat Perimeter Truss (SPT) leverages L3Harris’ advanced Perimeter Truss design, while optimizing its mass to make the unit lighter and smaller to package onto small satellites.

The Perimeter Truss Reflector uses L3Harris’ proprietary high-frequency mesh to achieve superior reflectivity and low cross-polarization interference. Offered in diameters up to four meters, and specifically designed for use on smallsat platforms, the Ka-band SPT is one-third the size and 50% the weight of previous designs. When stowed, the reflector is about the size of a commercial office fire extinguisher. The high-accuracy, low-stowed Perimeter Truss Reflector scales from 3 meters to 22 meters. The Highest Data-Rate Satellite Modem in a CubeSat-Compatible Package

Advantech Wireless Technologies has announced the launch of its LiteWave Modem, the industry’s highest data-rate satellite modem in a CubeSat ready footprint. It supports a variety of electrical interfaces and communication protocols, ensuring compatibility with all CubeSat & SmallSat ecosystems.

This CCSDS-compliant, DVB-S2/S2X modem is software-defined and is specifically designed for extremely low-SWaP applications, be it Satcom-on-the-move (SOTM), UAVs or satellites. The modem includes a protocol-agnostic mode where any type and format of data can be transmitted and received transparently.
