Radar Industry to Show Steady Growth from 2019 to 2025

In today's world, radars have become an essential tool for not only military but a range of consumer applications as well. Ball Aerospace and Anokiwave Introduce Ku-Band SATCOM Phased Array Terminal

Anokiwave and Ball Aerospace are working together to develop and enable the next generation of SATCOM terminal solutions. Telit Introduces World's Smallest 450 MHz Module for IoT Applications

Telit has announced the world's smallest LTE-M/NB-IoT module for use in the 450 MHz band. The ME310G1-W2 module has been designed for demanding, mission and business critical applications in the field of public safety, smart grids, smart cities or e-health, the new module also provides a smooth upgrade path to LTE for existing CDMA 450 deployments. This LTE-M/NB-IoT module leverages Telit's expertise in the smart energy market, where it currently has more than 100 customers worldwide.

Huawei Develops Breakthrough Antenna Design for 5G

Huawei has released a new technology called CableFree, that improves the capabilities and performance of base station antennas including radiation efficiency, and power capacity.

5G has seen more bands introduced and higher-order MIMO applied to mobile networks. This leads to an excessive increase in the internal complexity of the multi-band antenna structure, placing antenna design under vast challenges in multiple areas. These include antenna performance, power capacity, reliability, and production efficiency. MVG's 5G mm-Wave OTA Test Solution Getting Good Traction in the US

The Microwave Vision Group, has announced substantial interest in its innovative new StarWave system, with the first sale confirmed just a few weeks after launching the technology to market. Despite challenging global conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the launch of this new era 5G mm-Wave OTA testing technology has been particularly well received by the telecommunications industry. The first system was sold post-launch in the USA and will be used to test 5G connected handsets, tablets and laptops.

Thales Alenia Space to Upgrade the EGNOS Satellite Navigation System

Thales Alenia Space, the joint venture between Thales and Leonardo, has received two new contracts from the European Space Agency (ESA), for EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service). These contracts, fully financed under the European Commission H2020 program concern study phases on the system evolution. They will call on Thales Alenia Space’s expertise as program prime contractor for over 25 years to study and develop upgrades for the EGNOS satellite navigation system.

EGNOS, a European Union flagship program, is a satellite navigation system designed to improve positioning signals delivered by GPS. Developed by Thales Alenia Space as prime contractor, EGNOS was first deployed in 2005, began operating in open service mode in 2009 and provided Safety of Life service starting in 2011. The GNSS R&D activities are financed by the European Commission H2020 programme. They are managed by the European Space Agency through a delegation agreement from the European Commission. Energous Collaborates with E Ink to Wirelessly Charge Electronic Paper Displays

Energous Corporation, a leading developers of wireless charging 2.0 technology, announced a collaboration with E Ink Holdings, a leading innovator in electronic ink technology, to develop WattUp-enabled Electronic Paper Display (EPD) tags for IoT displays such as logistics tags, electronic shelf labels and retail signage, offering wireless charging at distances of up to 15 feet.

China Already Has More than 65 Million 5G Subscribers

According to recent reports and an article published by the Mobile World Congress, China, now has more than 65 million 5G subscribers (as of end March 2020). China Mobile and China Telecom picked up more than 17 million 5G subscribers in April, taking their combined tally to 65.45 million six months after introducing the new service.

Market leader China Mobile added 12.02 million new subscribers, ending the month with over 43.7 million subscribers. It had a net gain of 432,000 mobile subscribers in April for a total of 946.7 million. And according to the company’s Deputy GM Jian Qin, it aims to have over 100 million 5G subscribers by the end of the year. The company has also deployed 124,000 compatible base stations in 56 cities as it targets a total of 300,000 by the year-end. Click here to read more.
