Phoenix Antenna Systems has announced the release of its ANSim electromagnetic modeling and simulation software. ANSim is a Method of Moments program for solving electromagnetic problems for complex structures such as antennas. It is the first in a suite of RF design programs to be developed for Phoenix’s EM-Bench website.
Structures are built using wire segments, 2D surface patch elements, artificial dielectrics, lumped impedance elements and voltage sources. Impedance, current distributions and radiation (both far-field and near-field) are solved at specific frequencies.
ANSim can use multi-radius wires and with the use of piece-wise sinusoidal basis functions used in the moment method formulation, segments can be up to ¼ wavelength. The method also features an exactly symmetric mutual impedance matrix ensuring reciprocity between sources. This makes ANSim very efficient and with up to 40,000 segments allows complex structures to be modeled.
Output data is stored in simple text files, making it easy to extract data to spreadsheets or other programs for further analysis while the structures can be exported as DXF or VRML files so they can be viewed with any 3D CAD program.
The initial version of the program is a command line program however early purchasers will also receive a free copy of the GUI version when it is released (Expected 1st quarter 2022).
