New Signal Processing Solution to Enhance the Effectiveness of Wireless Applications

Analog front-end (AFE) solutions

Seamless Devices has introduced a set of analog front-end (AFE) solutions that aim to make it easier for architects of signal processing systems to address the tradeoff between performance quality and power usage in electronic devices. This new AFE will wnhance the wffectiveness of LTE, WiFi and Microwave Applications.

Manufacturers of semiconductors frequently face the challenge of balancing power with performance — an issue further intensified by the need to integrate more features even as transistor sizes scale down. Seamless Devices’ patented switched-mode operational amplifier (SMOA) technology addresses these issues by applying new signal processing algorithms that allow designers to achieve higher performance with the same power, or make the tradeoff to lower power while maintaining performance levels.

The company is introducing a portfolio of products, including analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), analog filters, and a programmable gain amplifier that provide high dynamic range to maintain signal fidelity. The company is unveiling the portfolio this month at the IP-Embedded System Conference and Exhibition (IP-SOC 2015) in Grenoble, France on Dec. 2rd and 3rd and ICCAD 2015 conference in Tianjin, China, on Dec. 10th and 11th.

The company’s newest ADC, built using SMOA, offers wide bandwidth, high dynamic range with 70 dB SNDR at 80MHz of bandwidth — allowing the system architect additional flexibility when designing high performance communication systems today. Seamless Devices’ use of proprietary techniques for the processing of analog signals in the switched-mode domain allow the signals to retain accuracy while operating at a lower power level than conventional solutions. This provides a “seamless” approach to amplify, replicate, and digitally convert the analog signal without the loss of signal fidelity.
