The Rohde & Schwarz THR9 high-power transmitter will be showcased at the upcoming 2017 Radio Show event in Austin, Texas from September 5 - 8, 2017. This is the only HD Radio transmitter with 100 percent liquid cooling technology. The THR9 attains efficiency values of up to 75 percent in analog FM mode.
The THR9 supports Generation 4 HD Radio technology as well as purely digital standards in band II. New exporter and importer functions, now in 1 RU, greatly simplify the system architecture of HD Radio transmitters. Based on FPGA signal processing instead of PC-based solutions, the R&S THR9 with HDR900 hardware delivers better performance and greater accuracy, which is important for consistent set diversity delay.
With its redundant liquid cooling technology, it eliminates the need for high-performance air conditioning systems. All transmitter components are liquid cooled, including power supplies and couplers, and the pump and heat exchanger are matched to the transmitter to deliver superior efficiency with low service costs.
It delivers the highest power density per rack of any FM transmitter manufacturer, providing up to 40 kW in analog FM mode (or 24 kW in hybrid mode) in a single rack. Other components and transmitters can be installed in the rack as well, which further reduces space requirements. Plus, the R&S THR9 includes support for asymmetrical sidebands to maximize coverage.
With this launch, Rohde & Schwarz is making sure FM radio stations are equipped for the digital future with powerful and space-saving transmitters.
